PHOTOBOOK
AUTHOR : MARIA PLOTNIKOVA
This book by Maria Plotnikova, published by EYESHOT MAGAZINE, is the result of the author’s experiences over 10 years in Latin America.
The book is now sold out.
Here’s what Maria tells us about her book.
“This book brings together my best photographs from ten years of traveling across Latin America. From 2008 to 2017, I visited almost every country in the region.
One day, I simply stepped out into the street and began photographing everyday life.
There was no assignment and no intention to please anyone. I was photographing for myself. Over time, the phrase “I’m going for a walk” came to mean “I’m going out to shoot.”
I learned to photograph not for money, and not because of money. This is how I became a street photographer.
I learned to see light and color, to wait for the decisive moment, and to notice stories hidden in plain sight.
Everyday life occupies only a small paragraph in history books, overshadowed by politics, economics, and other large-scale events.
Yet it is this ordinary life—quiet, fleeting, and often unnoticed—that changes faster than we realize.
Latin America became my home for ten years. It is a unique civilization, both ancient and young, overflowing with energy, creativity, and passion.
Those years were the happiest and most carefree period of my life, one that will most likely never be repeated. I value this experience deeply.”
