PLACES ALMOST REMEMBERED

Each photographer seeks images of a certain type for different reasons. Then they add their own style, which often reveals their point of view. Finally, there is the viewer, who has every right to interpret them.

In this case, Juan Taberner prioritizes the search, and his harmonious compositions are an invitation for the viewer to be carried away by their own memories.

“I’m drawn to places that seem to exist just outside everyday life. They feel familiar, yet difficult to place, as though they carry traces of something that can’t quite be named. Photographing them is my way of understanding why they continue to linger in my mind.
I’m not interested in documenting these places or explaining them. What interests me is the feeling they create – the quiet tension between recognition and uncertainty. The photographs don’t search for answers. They simply stay with the questions.
I hope the images remain open enough for viewers to bring their own memories and experiences into them. For me, a photograph becomes most meaningful when it resists a single interpretation and continues to reveal something new with time.”
