Sometimes focusing on a specific element helps us focus on what is essential and allows us to assign much broader meanings to what we have around us.

“This ongoing series delves into the austere elegance of brutalist and modernist parking structures, capturing their stark geometric beauty through a minimalistic lens.

By focusing on the interplay of light and shadow, each photograph accentuates the raw textures and imposing forms of these often-overlooked urban elements.

The series aims to convey the complex relationship between architectural modernism and the evolving urban environment. Primarily featuring rooftop perspectives, the series explores the boundless sense of space created by expansive views of the sky and horizon.

The concrete structures, with their rigid lines and stark profiles, are framed against a backdrop of endless sky, accentuating the feeling of infinity and the vastness of the urban landscape.

The horizon, often visible in these shots, underscores the juxtaposition of human-made limits against the infinite sky, creating a dialogue between architectural confinement and the expansive openness of the natural world.

In our daily lives, we often take parking decks for granted, viewing them merely as functional spaces for our vehicles.

This series seeks to challenge that perception by highlighting the architectural and contemporary beauty embedded in these man-made structures.

Each photograph invites viewers to reconsider their everyday surroundings, revealing how these utilitarian spaces possess a unique, often unnoticed, artistry.

The imposing concrete forms, and their integration with the sky, encourage us to appreciate the thoughtful design and aesthetic qualities of these structures, encouraging a deeper recognition of their role in our urban landscape.

Through this exploration, “Concrete Horizons” offers a meditative look at how these architectural giants define and confine urban spaces while simultaneously framing them within a broader, seemingly limitless context.

By focusing on the intricate details and expansive perspectives of these parking decks, the series reveals their paradoxical beauty and invites viewers to reflect on the often-overlooked elegance of the spaces we use every day.
