TITLE : ENCOUNTERING STILLNESS
SERIES
AUTHOR : KIMMO SAHAKANGAS

The photographer Kimmo Sahakangas takes us on a route through the American landscape in search of the beauty of isolation.

“Encountering Stillness is an unending photographic journey through an altered American landscape…

a documentary of roadside culture and the road traveled upon… making use of a framed observation

of a somewhat chaotic environment which is tempered in composition. Its subject matter is lacking

people to portray isolation as a visual drama and to distill a quiet beauty in an arbitrary landscape.”

About Kimmo Sahakangas

Photography was a passionate family endeavor. By age 19, a roadtrip to Las Vegas inspired

architectural study. And an interest in photographing the built American landscape for the alluring

roadside tradition. Both film and digital media are utilized.
