I have known and appreciated Bego Amare’s work since I started the Woofermagazine Instagram in 2020. It is a pleasure to publish a series of his here.
She herself describes it to us below:
“I walked the streets of Belgium looking for the master photographer Harry Gruyaert.
I imagined him crossing the streets in front of my camera, with his harmonic way of moving, of looking at the cafes, the lights and the shadows.
I would have loved some guy asking me what I was photographing, and me answering “I am busy”, as I saw Gruyaert doing once.
I could not empathize more with that mood. Of course I did not find Harry.
Still, more than the wish to meet him, I will always be after that mood, that focus, that silence to find the next good image.
I am sure you know what I am talking about; see you there!”

Who am I
I always remember myself stuck to a camera, or a photo album.
In 92 everything changed for me when my friend Juan left me his Pentax at the Monjuic stadium to use up the film he had left. They were the Barcelona Olympic Games. When I returned from there I bought a reflex camera with my savings and my friends gave me the laboratory.
That’s how it all started.
Twelve analog years thinking about where I could install the laboratory in each house I moved to. In 2004 my children were born, and I decided to go digital. My camera only had eyes for them, and we settled otside of Madrid, where we lived until we went to the United Kingdom, for the expatriate experience (after passing through Tokyo).
In England I began to be aware of my devotion to photography, macro and photo wanderings. I became addicted.
(Brexit happened and we came back)
Photography devoured me and I devoured images, books, exhibitions, videos, courses and workshops.
(The pandemic happened and I poured myself into the streets)
