TITLE : ENJOY YOURSELVES
SERIES
AUTHOR : EMMANUEL SERNA

Emmanuel Serna takes us on vacation in the theme parks of China.

“For a long time, the Chinese were banned from traveling.

They now take advantage of their vacation to visit their country.

Theme parks are among the main destinations for domestic tourism which has exploded with the emergence of a growing middle class.

Since the early 1990s, theme parks have multiplied across the country, encouraged by the Communist Party’s policy of promoting domestic tourism for the economic windfall it brings.

Chinese people always visit parks in groups, with colleagues, friends or with family.

They have fun, eat, sometimes sleep, but above all photograph themselves.

After “Get Rich” by Deng Xiaoping, enjoy yourselves seems to be the new slogan of the Chinese middle class.

In this work , I wanted to show another facet of China by dealing with leisure.

With a candid look I showed how the Chinese could have fun and how, under the impetus of their government, they had the impression of traveling in this world, however completely artificial.”
